Vinyl-liner pool
The lowest-cost inground pool type: a custom vinyl sheet draped over a steel or polymer frame, cheap upfront but the liner needs periodic replacement.
A vinyl-liner pool uses a flexible, custom-fitted vinyl membrane stretched over a frame of steel or polymer panels with a sand or grout base. It's the least expensive inground option to install and offers a smooth, non-abrasive surface.
The liner is a wear item: it typically lasts 7–12 years before fading, stretching, or tearing, and replacement runs roughly $4,000–$6,000. Gunite and fiberglass cost more upfront but avoid that recurring liner expense.
