Privacy Policy

The short version: you can use every calculator and read every guide on this site without creating an account or telling us who you are. We don't sell personal data. Like most ad-supported publishers we use advertising and analytics cookies (described below), and if you purchase a premium report (satellite roof analysis, draw-on-map pool quote) we collect the email you paid with and the property address you analyzed — that's the only personal information we ever collect directly.

What we collect

• Nothing, for normal use. The calculators run in your browser; the inputs you type (square footage, state, project options) are used to compute your estimate and are not tied to your identity.
• Your PayPal email and report, only if you buy a premium report.Our flagship satellite tools (roof analysis, draw-on-map pool quote) are free to try; the full report is a one-time unlock per address ($19 solar, $9 pool), paid through PayPal. When you purchase a premium report, we store your PayPal email address, the address you analyzed, and the report itself so you can return to it; payments are processed by PayPal and we never see your card details. If you use the "already paid?" magic-link form to reopen a report, we also store that request the same way we store the purchase. Email us to have any of it deleted.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for security and debugging, as virtually every website does.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a range of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (and Google Tag Manager) to understand which pages are useful in aggregate — page views, approximate location at the city level, device type. We don't use it to identify you. You can block analytics with common browser extensions or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Functional cookies we set ourselves

If you unlock a premium tool, we set a single signed cookie (valid ~30 days) so the tool stays unlocked in your browser. It contains no personal data and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

Who we share data with

Only the service providers that run the site — hosting, database, and email-delivery vendors acting on our behalf, and PayPal for payment processing — plus Google for advertising and analytics, as described above. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share your email with advertisers or contractors.

Children

This site is about home-improvement costs and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
